The wicked shall return to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail;
let the nations be judged before you!
Put them in fear, O Lord!
Let the nations know that they are but men!Psalm 9:17-20
Friends, it is past time we recognized the truth about America. Until we acknowledge and accept this hard truth, we won’t be living for God. In fact, we might fall away and join the masses. If we don’t accept the truth, we make ourselves part of the problem instead.
The truth is that America is sinking. The truth is that signs have been there for us to see for years.
The truth is that America is under God’s judgment. The truth is that signs have been there for us to see for years. Despite the numerous calls for national repentance, with events like The Return with its multi-day prayers for repentance in 2020 to the most recent National Gathering For Prayer and Repentance and the untold and unknown number of prayers for repentance across social media, things in America have only worsened on exponential levels—everything from sexual immorality to antisemitism.
Over the years, have we stopped to ask ourselves why? Why have the prayers for America to turn back to God gone unanswered? Why has America been given over to its sins and depravity instead?
We have to be able to discern the signs. Unless and until that happens, we won’t be able to let our light shine in the coming darkness. We may even find ourselves opposing God’s plan while being fooled into thinking we are partnering with God.
Some Signs That America Is Under God’s Judgment
DISCLAIMER: This is not an all-inclusive and detailed list. For something like that, with scriptural details, I recommend The Harbinger, The Harbinger 2, and The Return of The Gods by Jonathan Cahn.
Sexual immorality is celebrated:
This specific set of sins (they include but are not limited to homosexuality, adultery, and fornication) is one of the main reasons that God judged the nations. We see this list given in Leviticus chapters 18 and 20. As the Children of Israel are about to enter the Promised Land, God tells them this:
You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.
Leviticus 18:3
This is also how we know what is mentioned in Leviticus 18 and 20 are sins for all people. God judged the nations on the sins of sexual immorality and child sacrifice.
“Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.”
Leviticus 18:24-25
I believe the most significant sign was in 2015 with Obergefell v. Hodges, which made same-sex “marriage” the law of the land in America. Since then, we have seen an exponential explosion of sexual immorality. Polygamy is now being pushed to become accepted and legalized.
“As of 2022 and 2023, the number had risen even further, to 23 percent, meaning almost one in four Americans felt that polygamy was morally acceptable.”
Dr. Michael L. Brown (For the full article, read here)
Pedophilia is now being pushed as “minor-attracted persons!” Jesus warned in Matthew 18:6 - “but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” That is a stern warning that needs no explanation!
Do we somehow think God will spare America? It’s been said that if God doesn’t judge America, He has to apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah.
Child Sacrifice
Whatever reasons anyone has for committing the sin of abortion, it is still a sin in the eyes of God. Not only is this sin being committed daily, it is celebrated by many!
“Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I myself will set my face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given one of his children to Molech, to make my sanctuary unclean and to profane my holy name. And if the people of the land do at all close their eyes to that man when he gives one of his children to Molech, and do not put him to death, then I will set my face against that man and against his clan and will cut them off from among their people, him and all who follow him in whoring after Molech.
Leviticus 20:2-5
Another sin that causes God’s judgment to fall onto a nation is child sacrifice. In our day, we call it abortion. However, the results are the same: innocent babies are sacrificed. Whatever reasons anyone has for committing the sin of abortion, it is still a sin in the eyes of God. Not only is this sin being committed daily, it is celebrated by many! I will spare you the video footage of these people whose hearts have become blackened. Even though Roe v Wade has been overturned, giving the decision to outlaw or legalize abortion back to the states, only 14 out of 50 states have eliminated abortion. That means 28%, only one-quarter of the US population, think abortion is evil. Almost three-quarters of Americans believe abortion is acceptable.
Not only is God clear about what will happen to those who murder babies, but He also warns against ignoring the sin of abortion. Yet, how many pulpits across America, Sunday after Sunday, are silent on the sin of abortion?
“Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.”Genesis 9:6
Here, God tells us that murder must be answered. Furthermore, God tells us exactly why murder is so severe to Him because God makes each and every person in His own image. Either the sin of murder will be answered by the blood of Jesus or by another man, but either way, it must be answered. We are a nation where the majority of the populace has rejected God. The very name of Jesus is used so casually as a curse word.
As a nation, each murdered baby will be answered!
Foreigners Invade
10 Indeed, they will hear meaningless gibberish,
senseless babbling,
a syllable here, a syllable there.[v]
11 For with mocking lips and a foreign tongue
he will speak to these people.[w]
12 In the past he said to them,[x]
“This is where security can be found.
Provide security for the one who is exhausted.
This is where rest can be found.”[y]
But they refused to listen.Isaiah 28:10-12
This leads us to another sign of God’s judgment on America: foreigners invading.
While this text alludes primarily to a sign of the coming Assyrian invasion that would happen, the principle nevertheless remains (see 1 Corinthians 14:21-22).
See what the footnote says from the NET:
The Lord is the subject of the verb “will speak,” as v. 12 makes clear. He once spoke in meaningful terms, but in the coming judgment he will speak to them, as it were, through the mouth of foreign oppressors. The apparent gibberish they hear will be an outward reminder that God has decreed their defeat.
The number of foreigners pouring in through America’s open borders in the last four years alone is innumerable. There have been illegal immigrants, from Mexicans to Chinese to Arabs and so on. Many major cities have become overrun by them.
As if all of that wasn’t bad enough, the number of terrorists crossing our southern border into America is innumerable as well (see here and here for a couple out of many sources)! I have no idea how long it will be before an attack inside America from inside America by foreign invaders happens, but common sense alone dictates an attack will happen sooner or later.
The people’s refusal to listen to the Lord’s true prophets
Up to this point, you may have thought it isn’t too late for America. Perhaps the fact that Roe v Wade was overturned is a sure sign for you.
I want to draw your attention to verse 13 and some footnotes. Once again, from the NET translation.
So the Lord’s message to them will sound like
meaningless gibberish,
senseless babbling,
a syllable here, a syllable there.[z]
As time goes on, the Lord’s appeals through the prophets will have no impact on the people; they will regard prophetic preaching as gibberish.
Did you catch that? People regard prophetic preaching as gibberish! In other words, just like when Isaiah, Jeremiah, or Ezekiel spoke, they would reject it. Not only that, but prophetic warnings would also sound like nonsense. A cursory search of any major “prophetic” network will show this. The Elijah List is an example.
Several people, though not always well-known, have been sounding the warning for America to repent over the years. Whether it was in sermons preached or prophetic warnings given. By and large, most have rejected the warnings.
Except America hasn’t simply rejected the prophets; America has rejected God. We see the key to this in Ezekiel.
But the house of Israel is unwilling to listen to you, because they are not willing to listen to me, for the whole house of Israel is hardheaded and hardhearted.
Ezekiel 3:7
When God speaks through His prophets and the people reject what they speak, they reject God. God has been speaking through prophetic voices for many years to call America to repentance and right relationship with the Lord. Yet, sexual immorality has only flourished inside and outside of the church in America, to the point where many are accepting going to gay “weddings” as okay. Something that would have been inconceivable not even fifty years ago in America.
Anyone who was called to warn and who refused to warn what was coming upon America decided to be ashamed of Jesus.
A Warning To The Prophets & Prophetic Voices:
6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand.
Ezekiel 33:6
There are many of you whom God called to be a watchman; many of you may have even acknowledged that calling, yet your warnings have stopped. Maybe it was because you thought that the warnings of the Lord fell on deaf ears or that you saw people respond well to positive-sounding prophetic words. Whatever the reason you stopped sounding the warning, the fact is you disobeyed the Lord and stopped.
When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you must certainly die,’ and you do not warn the wicked about his behavior, the wicked man will die for his iniquity, but I will hold you accountable for his death.
Ezekiel 33:8 (NET)
The Lord holds YOU accountable for the spiritual death and physical death (aborted babies) of many. You have a final chance to come to repent before Jesus. You may lose your platform, perhaps forever, but is hellfire worth it?
Please read the scripture below, read it in full, and then read it again. Most importantly, repent. Anyone who was called to warn and who refused to warn what was coming upon America decided to be ashamed of Jesus. Please return to your first love.
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
Matthew 6:35-38
What Are We To Do Now?
All of this begs the question of what do we do next. Do we roll over and give up?
Let me first be clear. Things are going to get very difficult for all of America, even more so for us Christians. I’m not saying this to demoralize anyone; I’m simply being a realist. If I sugarcoat things, then I am disobeying God.
There is hope, though. We are not the first to go through this. Never mind that Europe, the UK, and Canada have been experiencing the outcome of God’s judgment on them and persecuting Christians1. The Bible and ancient history speak of the many who have gone through this before us.
Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
Hebrews 11:36-38
There are numerous ancient and modern stories2 of Christians persecuted and martyred for their faith. From Stephen, being stoned for the faith3 to Polycarp4 to Richard Wurmbrand and countless more.
In fact, the Bible promises what will happen to us. Just because life has been very easy for Christians for the entirety of America’s history doesn’t mean we are exempt from persecution. Quite the opposite, we are promised to be persecuted.
“Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.”
John 15:20
Jesus tells us that we are actually blessed when we are persecuted.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10
John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, John, Paul, and James (brother of John) are just some listed in the Bible who were persecuted and eventually martyred. We have innumerable witnesses who went before us as martyrs. In case you’re unaware, the book of Revelation was written not just to us about events that would happen in the far future but primarily to existing churches and saints living at the end of the first century when Revelation was written to encourage them5.
We can be encouraged now as well.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
If Jesus is our Lord, we too can take heart and be of good cheer because we too can overcome. We have the same promises today that Jesus spoke to His disciples. We have the same Holy Spirit given to us that was first poured out at Pentecost, empowering us today.
We are not escaping out of tribulation. The hour is late, and darkness is coming. Let’s choose now to let our light shine in the darkness.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
